What is Unlock and Types of Unlock?
Iphone’s are designed to use a Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card, or microchip that stores subscriber data. The SIM card is issued by a carrier and provides cell service by activating any phone into which it is inserted.A locked phone, however, will only recognize a SIM card from a particular carrier.If the cell phone is unlocked,it will recognize a SIM card from any carrier. The “lock” is a software setting that keeps the cell phone “loyal” to one carrier.
There are two types of Unlock :
1.Factory Unlock
2.Normal Unlock
Factory unlocked is the one which u can update as well..whenever apple release new update..and any sim card will work..it is
officially unlocked from factory..
For normal unlock..u can’t update right away..as need to wait for the unlock and jailbreak to release first..then only can update..
What is Jailbreak :
Just by installing simple app called “cydia” you can jailbreak your idevice
What is the use of Jailbreak :
To use the third party applications(All cracked App) that you can get for free after jailbreaking… else you got to buy from the APPLE store.
Unlock is for = iphone only not for ipod touch (bcoz itouch only act as a ipod, also you can use wifi but you cant use as a phone)
Jailbreak = Iphone and Ipod Touch
How To Unlock & Jailbreak Iphone/Ipod Touch With Latest Original Firmware?
Latest Firmware = 3.1.2
1. Get your 2G or 3G or 3GS with 5.11 baseband Locked!!
2. Back up all your stuff
3. Download stock (Original) 3.1.2 based on ur generation
4. Turn off your phone
5. Hold menu button and then connect ur phone to the cable… hold menu button untill u see the resovery mode
6. Hold menu button + Power button for 10 seconds.(This is for DFU Mode)
on 10 second release the power button
keep holding the menu button for few more seconds untill itunes says that ur phone is in recovery mode
7. now u r in dfu mode
8. Hold shift key and then click on restore in itunes
9. select 3.1.2 firmware that u downloaded..
10. now your phone will be restored.. and u will see connect to itunes symbol…
11. Just download blackra1n RC3…
12. Open it and click on “Make it rain”
13. After its done ur phone will restart
14. now on the springboard u will have a new icon called as “Blackrain”
15. Conntec to wifi now
16. tap on blackrain icon
17. Install “Blacksn0w” if u want to unlock
18. Install “Cydia” If u want jailbreak
i used the same way to unlock and jailbreak my idevice .

hey Ramkumar buying ipod touch is very good idea,, i loev ipod touch too, buy ipod touch 3rd gen,, it have inbuilt speaker, better wifi speed,etc

Very informative article, especially the part about the factory lock and normal lock. I did not really understand the whole concept behind the fuzz of a locked phone and unlocking it. It sounds complex. You unraveled the mystery behind this concept. I did a similar jailbreak guide for 3.1.3 firmware but with Redsn0w instead.
